What to bring with to your appointment

Previous Year Tax Returns

All new clients should bring a copy of last year’s tax return with them as it contains valuable information on the return that will assist with the preparation of this year’s tax return. If you are an Iowa resident, it is required to bring your tax return or you must know the exact amount of your Federal return from the year before or the exact amount of taxes paid.

Government Issued ID

Although not required at this time to e-file, having your valid ID with you when preparing your return may speed up the processing of your return and helps to cut down on Identity Theft. Some states do require an ID when filing your return. If you are paying with a bank product, a valid ID is necessary for both the taxpayer and spouse (if applicable).

Birth Certificates of Dependents

If you are claiming dependents on your return, bringing in their birth certificates will validate your relationship to that person. *This is required only on the first visit to our office. An electronic copy will be made and placed in client file for future use if necessary.

Social Security Cards

Any person you are claiming on the tax return for tax credits will need to have their SSN. *This is required only on the first visit to our office. An electronic copy will be made and placed in client file for future use if necessary.

Checking or Savings Account
